A New Year’s Message to the Loxahatchee Groves Community

As we welcome 2026, the Town of Loxahatchee Groves looks ahead with optimism, purpose, and a continued commitment to serving our residents and preserving the unique character of our community.

The Town Council has been meeting and will continue to engage in strategic planning and prioritization discussions to help guide the Town’s direction for the year ahead. These conversations will focus on setting clear goals, identifying community priorities, and ensuring thoughtful, responsible decision-making that reflects the values and needs of Loxahatchee Groves.

Town staff remains fully committed to carrying out the direction of the Town Council and advancing the initiatives outlined in the Council’s agenda. Through collaboration, transparency, and sound governance, we will continue working to enhance municipal services, support public safety, maintain infrastructure, and protect the rural lifestyle that makes Loxahatchee Groves special.

We look forward to a productive year of partnership with our residents, community stakeholders, and elected officials. Thank you for your continued engagement and trust as we move forward together in 2026.

Town Council Workshop Meetings – 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. 

The Town Council has recently introduced monthly workshops, held on the third Tuesday of each month in the Town Hall Chambers. These workshops are designed to foster open, interactive discussions among Council Members, residents, and community stakeholders on matters important to Loxahatchee Groves. The public is encouraged to attend, share perspectives, and actively participate in these collaborative community conversations. 

Town Council Adopts Resolution Naming Park Road

Town Council Adopts Resolution Naming Park Road 

At their January regular meeting, the Town Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-02, officially naming the road within Loxahatchee Groves Park as Loxahatchee Groves Park Drive. The action was taken at the request of Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation and supports clear identification for residents, visitors, and emergency services. Town staff will coordinate with Palm Beach County, utility providers, and public safety agencies to ensure a smooth transition, with the new road name becoming effective 30 days after adoption.

Town Council Adopts Resolution Renaming Okeechobee Boulevard

At their January regular meeting, the Town Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-01, approving the renaming of Okeechobee Boulevard to Middle Road within the Town limits. The change was determined to serve the public interest and reflect the historical and community character of Loxahatchee Groves. Town staff will coordinate with Palm Beach County, emergency services, utility providers, and affected agencies to ensure a smooth transition. The new road name will tentatively become effective 90 days following adoption.

Town Council Adopts Ordinance Updating Plat Review Process

At their January regular meeting, the Loxahatchee Groves Town Council adopted Ordinance No. 2025-21, amending the Town’s Unified Land Development Code to update the platting review and approval process. The ordinance aligns the Town’s regulations with recent changes to Florida Statutes, which require plats and replats to be reviewed and approved administratively rather than by the governing body. This update streamlines development review procedures while maintaining compliance with state law and ensuring appropriate coordination with Town staff and reviewing agencies.

2026 Municipal General Election Information

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves Municipal General Election is a nonpartisan election held on the second Tuesday in March, in accordance with Section 7 of the Town Charter.

The next Municipal General Election will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with polling hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Qualified electors of the Town will vote to fill two Town Council seats.

The following candidates have qualified for office:

Councilmember – Seat 1 – Unexpired one-year term ending March 2027

  • Steven Hoffman
  • Joe Stephens
  • Robert Sullivan

Councilmember – Seat 5 – Three-year term ending March 2029

  • Todd McLendon
  • Manish Sood

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Town of Loxahatchee Groves’ incorporation—a milestone worth celebrating! In a 2006 Town Crier article titled “More Work Ahead as Groves Residents Approve Incorporation,” the community recognized that incorporation was just the beginning of an ongoing journey to shape the Town’s future.

Twenty years later, that same spirit is alive and well. Today’s residents and Town Council continue to share the belief that while much has been accomplished, there is always more to do. AG Classification Period

If your property is used primarily for bona fide commercial agricultural purposes and you want to apply for the agricultural classification, please note the annual application period runs from January 1 to March 1. To qualify, you must be the owner of record on January 1 and your agricultural business must be operating on the property as of that date. Submit your application with supporting documentation by March 1 to be considered for the current tax year.

Stay Informed with Town Notification System

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves uses a notification system to share important and time-sensitive updates directly with residents. Alerts may be sent by text message, email, or phone call, depending on your preferences, and are intended for both emergency and significant non-emergency situations. Emergency alerts may include information about evacuations, boil water notices, or shelter-in-place orders. Non-emergency alerts may involve major road closures, extended traffic disruptions, or significant police or fire activity affecting the community. This system is not used for routine announcements, but rather for situations where timely communication is critical. If you would like to sign up to be notified of such events, visit the Town's Notifications Website Page or text LoxahatcheeGroves to 38276.
